Counselling and coaching are not just services, they are spaces of connection, presence, and care. The experience of being seen, the safety of being heard, and the slow, steady process of change that unfolds in relationship cannot be bought.
At the same time, offering counselling with the competence, skill, and thoughtful preparation it requires goes far beyond the time we spend together in session. In order to sustain this work in a responsible and ethical way, I do charge a session fee.
I want to share what this fee supports, not only to be transparent, but to help you understand the time, care, and ongoing commitment that make this work possible.
1. The Work Goes Beyond the Session
Each session is only part of the process. I also dedicate time outside our meetings to:
- Reflect on our work and take careful notes.
- Think about what you might need next.
- Prepare personalized materials, exercises, or readings.
- When needed, study or consult trusted colleagues to support your journey more effectively.
2. Ongoing Professional Development
To offer you safe, effective support, I invest in:
- Clinical supervision, which gives me space to think deeply and ethically about how I show up for each client.
- Continuing education, including courses, books, and professional trainings that keep my knowledge sharp and evolving.
3. Running a Private Practice
There are practical costs to making therapy possible. These include:
- Secure software for notes, sessions, and communication.
- Materials and assessment tools.
- Taxes, social security, and other legal responsibilities.
4. Sliding Scale: A Commitment to Accessibility
I reserve a number of sliding scale spots for clients who need financial flexibility. These are offered with care and intention, based on need and what is sustainable for me in the long run.
While I cannot offer a reduced fee to everyone, I strive to make thoughtful accommodations where I can.
In short:
Counselling and Coaching are collaborative journeys. The financial exchange supports a space where your growth is held with competency and stability.
If you have questions about fees or accessibility, you are always welcome to ask.
With care and kindness,
Beatriz
